Devimco, a leader in real estate in Quebec, is commissioning the construction of this mixed-use building, which includes condos, retail, offices and a hotel, on block 10 of the Griffintown district in Montreal’s West End. The challenge is great given the grafting of other investor partners such as Groupe Cholette for the condo part and Germain Hôtels for the hotel part.

“The biggest thing was managing the multiple changes the client made to the program during the design. In the case of the hotel, the plans were imposed by Germain Hotels. In this case, my only contribution was to relocate the box on the façade. For the 19-storey condo tower, I wanted to accentuate the verticality of the tower by using vertical window bands and vertical cladding panels. At the top, a two-level condo and a fully glazed facade were necessary because of the beautiful view of the river and the Five Roses sign. As for the rest of the building, I used a grey and red brick masonry cladding reminiscent of the industrial sector’s past.
